Hi! My name is Landen Nelson, and I am a sophomore at Butler University, majoring in Sports Media with a minor in Strategic Communications. I am an aspiring broadcaster with dreams of commentating for NASCAR and INDYCAR, a passion that began when I was six years old, playing with my NASCAR die-cast cars.
I have radio and TV broadcasting experience as a color commentator for Butler Volleyball, a sideline reporter for Butler women's basketball, and an anchor for Butler Sports Live halftime shows on ESPN+.
While my dream is to become a broadcaster, I want to become one of the most versatile in the media industry. I am currently a Marketing & Content Creator Intern for Butler's College of Communication, where I drive community engagement across the Butler and Indianapolis communities. I helped create a successful marketing campaign by incorporating the college's 15th anniversary and Indiana's love for motorsports, which we called "CCOM15". With the efforts of the intern team, the College of Communication raised over $50,000 on the Day of Giving.
The most defining moment of my career was in high school when I received two Intercollegiate Broadcasting Systems Awards for the best radio sports talk program and radio drama. This opportunity provided me with the confidence to impact the media world by being who I am through my love of sports and storytelling.
I am not only achieving this dream just for my success, but to provide the best life for my Mom, who has raised me into the person I am today. None of these opportunities and achievements would be possible without her, and I owe it all to her.
If anyone would like to connect or has any internship or job opportunities, please feel free to contact me via email @landennelson77@gmail.com or through Linkedln!
My job during the race was filming on the leader camera.
