I am 18 years old and a freshman majoring in Sports Media at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. In addition, I am a camera operator for Butler Sports Live. I graduated with a 4.2 GPA and an academic and technical honors diploma from Decatur Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. During my junior and senior years, I participated in the Radio Broadcasting Program at the Area 31 Career Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. During my time there I was able to host, co-host, and produce many radio shows on WBDG 90.9 FM. In addition, developed advanced skills when using the Adobe Audion software to edit drop-ins, promos, and underwriting spots. All of the time, effort, hard work, and knowledge gained from WBDG 90.9 FM paid off when I received a national radio award from the Intercollegiate Broadcasting Systems for having the Best Sports Talk Program during my senior year. Receiving this award gave me the confidence that I am capable of being a part of the sports media industry and my work ethic will reward me with success. Moreover, I learned that it does not matter where you come from to be successful all you need is the desire to learn, practice, and work hard to have success. As long as you have those qualities you can achieve greatness and obtain the life you desire. I hope the skills and experience gained during my time at WBDG 90.9 FM, Butler Sports Live, and Butler University will lead to me working as a NASCAR and INDYCAR play-by-play broadcaster on TV or the radio. By the end of my freshman year of college, I aspire to receive many internship opportunities with sports organizations in the Indianapolis area or out of state. Lastly, this will result in me diversifying my resume, and portfolio, and expanding my network to land a job opportunity in the sports media field.
